Matt Sweeney, President & CEO
Matt oversees the management of all facets of InfoWorld's business. He was previously executive vice president and publisher, leading Computerworld's national sales efforts for two and a half years through a period of tremendous revenue growth. Prior to coming to Computerworld, Sweeney held a number of executive positions in IT publishing, including national associate publisher of Ziff Davis' CIO Insight magazine, associate publisher East at PC Magazine and publisher/vice president of sales at IDG's Macworld magazine. Sweeney holds a bachelor's degree in marketing from Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass.
Gregg Pinsky, VP/Group Online Publisher
Gregg Pinsky has worked for IDG for 19 years in various roles, many of which concentrated in the online area. He took leadership of the revenue side of Computerworld online in 1998 and since then has led the site to seven consecutive years of tremendous growth. In his current role he oversees the national online sales and operations teams for both InfoWorld and Computerworld with responsibility for all revenue-driving, advertising reporting, and product development efforts.
Paul Calento, Senior Vice President/Strategic Development
Paul oversees program development, marketing strategies, research programs, and related initiatives for the InfoWorld Media Group. He is responsible for championing and articulating the brand's expansion into new coverage areas (like SOA, virtualization and enterprise data protection) and new media types (like video, mobile delivery, social networking and podcasting).
A technology media veteran, Paul has extensive experience in marketing, management, and sales in publisher, associate publisher, and director roles. At CMP Media, successes include developing marketing strategies for the launch of Intelligent Enterprise and as publisher of Software Development, where pages, market share, and circulation increased during his tenure. A publishing innovator, Paul's appeared on the cover of Folio: Magazine and named to its list recognizing the "next generation of publishing leaders."
Paul graduated Cum Laude from Boston University with a BS in Business Administration-Marketing concentration.
Martha Connors,VP/General Manager of Online
Connors is responsible for leading the online operations and editorial for Computerworld, CxO and Infoworld the leading brands in enterprise IT. In this role, she is the primary driver of online strategy and direction and is charged with overseeing the dramatic growth these organizations are seeing in all areas of online media. Prior to coming to Computerworld, Connors worked for ten years at Technology Review, an MIT enterprise, where she was instrumental in transforming the once small magazine, into a leading independent media company. Starting out as circulation director at Technology Review, she worked her way up to Executive Vice President/COO, responsible for the online business, circulation, and operations. During her time there, she put Technology Review online in 1994, making it one of the first 10 publications on the web at the time. She joined Computerworld in 2005 as VP/General Manager online and in 2006 was given the added responsibility of overseeing the online properties of CxO media including CIO.com, CSO.com.
Connors currently serves on the board of directors for MITX (Massachusetts Interactive Technology Exchange), and has served on the technology sub-committee for the Massachusetts Board of Education and on the board for her alumni magazine. Connors received her BA in English and Journalism from the University of Massachusetts.
Eric Knorr, Editor-in-Chief
Eric has been the executive editor at InfoWorld for the past 4 years and is uniquely suited to take Infoworld.com and events editorial forward. He brings 20 years of technology journalism experience serving the needs of enterprise IT managers and before joining InfoWorld was the former editor of PC World magazine, the creator of the best-selling The PC Bible, a founding editor of CNET, and a veteran of several dot-com endeavors. Eric is also an award winning editor, receiving the Neal and Computer Press Awards for journalistic excellence.
Jill Martay, Vice President of Events
As Vice President of Events for the InfoWorld Media Group, Jill oversees InfoWorld's industry conferences, custom events, and executive forums.
Prior to joining InfoWorld, Jill served as the Director of Marketing at COMDEX as well as Marketing and Sales Manager at several CMP Media publications. Jill joined InfoWorld in October 2004 to launch its event Division, beginning with its now acclaimed SOA Executive Forum series.
Since its inception, InfoWorld has produced eight SOA Executive Forum events across the country including New York City, San Francisco, and Washington DC. Originally from Greenwich, Connecticut, Jill graduated from Central Connecticut University, and currently resides in Chicago.
Hal Mentlik, VP Integrated Media Sales
Hal oversees the InfoWorld online sales team. Hal joined InfoWorld in 2003 as East Coast Ad Director and was promoted two years later to Associate Publisher. In early 2007 he assumed the role of VP Integrated Media Sales. He is responsible for managing the online sales process and helping implement the many innovative sales opportunities InfoWorld has to offer the vendor community.
Prior to joining InfoWorld, Hal was with CMP Media from 1986 through 2003, with the exception of two years in between where he left to join B2BWorks, an online ad network startup. At CMP he held various sales management positions within their Channel and Enterprise publications and websites. At B2BWorks he held the position of East Coast Sales Director from 1999 through 2001 managing the sales team and helping to open and manage their NYC office. Hal is a graduate of New York Institute of Technology with a BFA degree in Communication Arts.
Matthew Smith, Executive Vice President/Finance & Operations
Matthew Smith has been with International Data Group (IDG) for more than 20 years, holding senior management positions with Computerworld since 1987. Smith joined Computerworld as senior vice president of finance and operations, and is currently its executive vice president in charge of overseeing the finance and accounting divisions. In this role, he directs budgeting, forecasting and monthly accounting closings. Additionally, Smith manages all operational functions at Computerworld, including administration, facilities, production, distribution and human resources.
Prior to joining Computerworld, Smith was director of operations at IDG Peterborough (IDG/P), Inc., a division of IDG and a New Hampshire-based publisher of eight monthly computer magazines, including 80 Micro, inCider/A+, Microcomputing, AmigaWorld and Desktop Computing. There, he handled the preparation of the annual budgets and monthly forecasts, as well as the coordination of all legal matters involving trademarks, copyrights, litigation and contracts. Smith also played a principal role in negotiating the sale of the company to IDG Communications in 1983.
Smith holds a bachelor's degree in specialized business finance and a master's in education from Cambridge College. He has also served as a member of the board of directors for the Peterborough, N.H. and Metro-West Chamber of Commerce.
Julie Lynch, Director, Human Resources
Julie Lynch has worked in Human Resources for IDG for over 11 years. Prior to joining Computerworld, Lynch was Director of Management Development at IDG focusing on leadership and best practice sharing programs at IDG worldwide. Other IDG positions have included Director of Corporate Training and Development and Director of IDG's HR Services Division where she led a team in support of the HR needs of a wide range of IDG's business units. She joined Computerworld in 2006 and she is responsible for the full scope of the HR function at Computerworld.
Lynch holds a BA degree in Interpersonal Communication and Rhetoric from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a MS degree in Management from Lesley University, Cambridge, MA.
