Based in Oahu, the Univ. of Hawaii School of Ocean and Earth Sciences and Technology's Advanced Network Computing Laboratory (SOEST ANCL) is designed to test cutting-edge enterprise- and carrier-class networking equipment and provides high-quality tests for publication as well as real-world network-engineering experience for computer science students attending the university. The University of Hawaii has a long history in network research. It is the home of AlohaNet - the precursor to Ethernet - and is where the world's first CSMA (carrier sense multiple access) networks were invented. AlohaNet was later confined to wires by Bob Metcalf of Xerox PARC, collision detection was added, and the name was changed to Ethernet. |
q!Bang Solutions is a Las Vegas consulting firm whose co-owners include two ex-ANCL students. q!Bang Solutions provides custom programming and hosting services with advanced VoIP and Internet routing experience drawn from our tenure as network engineers for some of the largest convention centers in the USA.
