PC Week: 10 Programming Languages You Should Learn Right Now
PC Mag is running a piece on the top 10 programming languages you should learn. Pretty interesting that PHP and C# rank as number 1 and 2 despite the fact they found 14,000 jobs available for Java developers.
1. PHP
2. C#
3. AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML)
4. JavaScript
5. Perl
6. C
7. Ruby and Ruby on Rails
8. Java
9. Python
10. VB.Net (Visual Basic .Net)
I prefer obscure programming methodologies like Hypercard and OS like Plan 9 in my spare time.

3. AJAX 6,819

4. Ruby on Rails 506

5. Javascript 31,657
http://www.indeed.com/jobs?q=JavaScript
6. Perl 32,387
http://www.indeed.com/jobs?q=Perl
7. C, unknown, too broad a search term
8. Java 91,290
http://www.indeed.com/jobs?q=Java
9.Python, 6,199
http://www.indeed.com/jobs?q=Python
10. VB.net 12,215
http://www.indeed.com/jobs?q=VB.net
---------
Generally there seems to be a larger demand for close source programmers. And Java!
Or preference at Enomaly is python and php.
