Walmart.com respins with open source (OpenLaszlo)
Walmart.com is relaunching, and has open source at its core. MySQL? Well, probably (that's a given these days), but this news is even more significant, because it's OpenLaszlo from Laszlo Systems. OpenLaszlo is a great way to add rich media functionality to your website. WalMart agrees.
The real question, given WalMart's reputation for driving down vendor pricing, is how much lower than free did it require? :-)

Too bad the homepage navigation doesn't work in Firefox on my linux (Ubuntu) desktop. But it's cool regardless.
Nice work walmart!
Posted by: Reuven Cohen at October 26, 2006 12:02 PMArab Portal Network http://www.WeArab.Net/ switched to OpenLaszlo http://www.OpenLaszlo.Org/ since it can make Flash and Ajax output for the same code, and it's free, that's why we left Flex 2.0 beside it's a free and open source.
OpenLaszlo is very easy to use and has no performance issues when you use it with J2EE in our FreeBSD http://www.FreeBSD.Org/ servers.
I would advise to go for OpenLaszlo Legals which support Flash9 and Ajax now.
FreeBSD and Linux and can use Flash9 Beta now ;)

I don't see any difference at walmart.com. Just traditional web pages with flash. No Ajax.
