Informationweek's "Innovators and Influencers" report
InformationWeek just released their "Innovators and Influencers" report, which features two open source bigshots: Marty Roesch (creator of Snort) and CTO of Sourcefire, and Ross Mason (creator of Mule) and CTO of MuleSource. Half-credit to Michael Baum of Splunk and 10% open source credit to Ron Hovsepian of Novell.
The technology industry has always been something of a cult of personality, populated by strong characters driving their own agendas, sometimes with vested-interest results. Fortunately, it's often for the greater good. The lesson: Look for the strong characters and you'll find the emerging trends, the creative centers, the areas of opportunity.
