Save XP?

I stumbled across a "Save XP" petition that InfoWorld is hosting:

"Microsoft will end OEM and shrink-wrapped sales of Windows XP on June 30, 2008, forcing users to shift to Vista.

....

Millions of us have grown comfortable with XP and don't see a need to change to Vista. It's like having a comfortable apartment that you've enjoyed coming home to for years, only to get an eviction notice. The thought of moving to a new place -- even with the stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and maple cabinets (or is cherry in this year?) -- just doesn't sit right. Maybe it'll be more modern, but it will also cost more and likely not be as good a fit. And you don't have any other reason to move."

More than 57,000 have signed it. Will you??? ;-)

Maybe more folks would sign a petition titled: "Save XP, Kill Vista" ?

PS: I should state: "The postings on this site are my own and don’t necessarily represent IBM’s positions, strategies or opinions."

Hiho, well as they say, the biggest reval of Vista, is XP.

//Windows, if you want to be handicaped for life!

I have 3 desktops with linux, one has an XP partition that I have to reload when it goes south. Really won't buy a laptop with Vista

What are all the problems with vista why has it gone south.

It is the best S.O. in the world

I don't think MS cares about it's customers or a petition. I'm dual booting win xp pro and linux and hope I can skip the Vista altogether like I did 2000 and ME.Xp is the best OS that MS has had since DOS. You can only hope that 7 is better.

I'm just waiting for Microsoft to pull some tricky auto-update to XP SP3 and break XP for the holdouts.

Old Guy,

When that happens, you can be sure that it will be an "inadvertent error" or some other "mistake" that caused this and that the Msoft tech team will be "working 24/7" to resolve this issue. At least that will be the story for the first 30 days after this happens.

All right, so what are we going to do? I've got a thought, Let's slow down the national economy just a little bit until all of the small businesses in America are "comfortable" with Ubuntu. (No wait! , uh, my bad!)

Vista is not a viable "migration path".

Just try using the File Settings and Transfer Wizard (in XP) to move your data and and apps from a box with XP Office 2003, to a box with Vista Office 2007

Microsoft is holding a sword to our back and forcing us into the water.

DON'T WALK THE PLANK!!
