Is American Airlines more boneheaded than United?

In the race to provide the worst possible customer service, American Airlines has announced a policy that is so boneheaded they make United Airlines look absolutely mediocre. Back in February, United announced that they would start charging passengers $50 to check a second bag. I rarely check any luggage when I'm on business, but if I'm travelling with family then sometimes my wife will check two bags.

Now American has said that starting next month they'll start charging passengers $15 to check even the first bag. What moron came up with this idea? It's bad enough that you have to pay for curbside check-in and meals. Now they want you to pay to check your bags. What's next? Will I have to pay to take a crap on board? I expect that American passengers will now resort to trying to carry on all their baggage and further over-stuffing the overhead compartments.

Good luck to you, American. Bankruptcy is too good for you. But I don't care, because I'll be flying a different carrier. Guess what? If you nickel and dime your customers, they resent it.
