Summer tech conferences

There are a ton of good technical and open source conferences coming up in the next few months. If you haven't made plans, this is the time to go to your boss and make your case! Here are a few of the upcoming conferences. The only problem is that there are three great conferences the week of June 23. So better pick one! Many of these events sell out, so don't wait until the last minute.

Apple WWDC, June 9-13, San Francisco, CA
For the Apple faithful, this conference borders on religious experience. I expect this year will be the largest ever, thanks to the success of the iPhone, the launch of the iPhone SDK and the imminent 3G iPhones. Expect big announcements, cool demos and hands-on technical sessions. Did I mention the iPhone?

Velocity, June 23-24, Burlingame, CA
This is a new conference focusing on large scale, high-growth web operations. If web ops is in your title, you should attend. If you're developing cloud-based applications already, you should probably be speaking.

Burton Group Catalyst Conference, June 23-27, San Diego, CA
This conference is one of those hidden gems. Not as well known as other conferences, but perfectly targeted to corporate IT architects and gurus. I'll be on a panel on open source.

Structure, June 25, San Francisco, CA
I haven't been to this conference, but it's put on by Om Malik and his crew and features top speakers from Amazon, Sun, Rackspace, Google and a ton of VCs.. The focus is on scalable infrastructure and how to make money.

OSCON, July 21-25, Portland, OR
This is the annual gathering of the tribe for the t-shirt and sandal wearing crowd. I've been going for several years and O'Reilly has done a great job keeping the content fresh and adding new themes and mini-conferences. This year, it's also co-located with the Open Mobile Exchange. Hope to see you there!

Anyone else planning on attending these events? What do you most look forward to? Also, feel free to add comments about other upcoming conferences I may have missed.
