You get no bread with one meatball...

The little man felt ill at ease,
He said some bread sir, if you please.
The waiter's voice roared thru the hall,
You get no bread with one meatball.

So the song by Ry Cooder goes as it talks about what you can't have.

Well this song came to mind today when dealing with Comcast, God bless'em.

My service went down again, this time it wasn't my VoIP or broadband for the Internet but my On Demand service.

For a few days I have been unable to access any on demand shows or movies. No access of any kind.

Well, I called figuring if I hit them in the pocketbook they might respond. So I told them I want my money back because I was unable to get the On Demand service.

The response, from the customer service rep and his supervisor…

"On demand is a free service."

See what I mean, you get no bread? In this case you get no reduction in price with a free service.

But isn't that like buying a refrigerator and when the ice maker doesn't work the GE reps tells you that since the ice maker is free with every refrigerator there's nothing they can do for you, unless of course you want to pay for a service call.

The logic, if that's what it is, is enough to make you want to scream, especially when you get those blank stares as if you're the crazy one.

Well, I think I'm off to the Direct TV store and maybe I'll try AT&T for VoIP and Internet while I'm at it.

Anybody out there have any better ideas?

"The little man was very sad,
For one meat ball is all he had,
And in his dreams he hears that call,
Ya get no bread with one meat ball."
