The two Internets

Like reality, the Internet has a liberal bias. Or so say the folks at Quantum Communications in Harrisburg, PA, who have launched QubeTV – a "YouTube for conservatives."

Like the folks behind the Conservapedia, who decided the Wikipedia is a hotbed of left-wing surrender monkeys and started their own encyclopedia ("Now 100% evolution free!"), the Qubists believe that YouTube's millions of videos shunt aside that vital Fox News demographic. So they created their own viral video community on the Net.

It's an eclectic crowd. The long list of memes Qubists are pursuing include “commputers,” [sic] “insatiable interest in current events as they relate to Bible prophecy,” “spanking,” and “French horn solos.”

Of course, there are only two ways to ensure QubeTV stays on the True Path of Rightness. One is to censor any left-leaning material (which the site's founders have sworn not to do). The other is to hope that liberals either a) can't find the site, or b) get bored playing troll and leave the Qubists alone. So far, it doesn't look like that's happening.

Further evidence that the Net, like everything else in our society, is dividing into two warring camps: Us and Them. And regardless of which side of the divide you're on, Them are clearly nuts.

Are some Web 2.0 sites politically biased, and more important, do you care? Opine freely below or drop me a note.

There is no reason that Reds like the anti-tech neocons should have their own internet, since they have tried to kill funding for it before. Let them suffer.

Yet more evidence that conservatives are fundamentally psychotic - so out of touch with reality that they actually believe they can change its nature simply by denying those bits that they don't like.

On the theory that most users of Viagra are conservatives (constipation, whether of the bowel or the mind, is not conducive to erection), I propose we spike Viagra with a powerful psychotropic - mellaril or similar - so that we can tranquilize them to the point that they are no longer any trouble.

Grolan certainly validated your conclusion that "Them are clearly nuts." But it seems to me that the unfortunate tendency to characterize differing political views as psychotic afflicts the Left more than the Right. I've never heard any of my conservative friends call leftists insane, or propose curing leftism with psychotropic drugs.

Well, sooner or later, most people grow up.

Jay is absolutely right! "Conservatives" (the proper term is regressionists) would not call leftists insane, nor would they propose curing leftism with psychotropic drugs. They would (and do) call leftists "traitors who favor surrender" and propose to cure leftism by incarceration. They're not nuts, just sociopathic.

Jim, only a cut-and-runner and a card carrying member of the Hate America First Crowd would post such an outrageous comment. Now support the troops and stay the course. And watch Fox News! ;-)

Oh no, conservatives would never resort to name calling. I've never heard Rush boy call anyone on the left "wackos", "tree-huggers", or "extremists". Compassionate conservatives? Yeah, our compassionate conservative governor here in Missouri has cut thousands of people out of Medicare, kicked thousands out of long term care centers he closed, and is now raiding funds out of a tuition assistance program to build more buildings at the "right" universities (no stem cell research). Real compassionate...

The biggest difference between a Democrat and a Republican?

Democrats believe with all their heart that they are "right" and the Republicans are "wrong."

Republicans know without a doubt that they are "good" and the Democrats are "EVIL!"

I'm just sorry I wasted 3 minutes of my life reading these postings.

Reminds me of the old joke about the difference between Democrats & Republicans:

Democrats want the government to give stuff away;
but Republicans want the government to fix it so that people don't have to pay for stuff.

As has been said before, not really a dime's worth of difference between the two.

Actually, while there are folks in both camps that care more about their party than they do about their country, there is quite a bit of difference between the two platforms. Read both of them sometime and then ask yourself which one you want pinned to your chest when you go before your Creator after this life is over.
