So Apple yanked Armin Henreich's I Am Rich" application from its App Store, but not before eight synapse challenged individuals paid $1000 apiece for it (according to Wired News). This was at least the third app Apple has quietly removed from store shelves, but the first one where its motivation was relatively clear.
In case you're not one of the Great 8, I Am Rich is simply a glowing red ruby screensaver that “reminds you (and others when you show it to them) that you were rich enough to afford this." And that's all it does. Obviously in this case "Rich" is a synonym for "Brain Dead."
As Wired blogger Brian Chen points out, $1000 represents the top price anyone can pay for something on the App Store. Now the question is, what mobile app possibly be worth a grand? Maybe the Eliot Spitzer Escort Locator?
