Gupta program aimed at boosting SMB sales
Hoping to cash in on what it sees as increasing demand among SMBs for a more unified technology platform, Gupta Technologies, LLC on Monday launched a new channel partner program aimed at resellers and system integrators primarily serving smaller companies.
The new program is centered around Gupta's milti-platform, embedded database and application development solutions, namely its SQLBase® and Team Developer products that work with both Linux and Windows operating environments.
Given the decision many smaller companies are trying to make about staying with Windows or moving to Linux, one analyst believes the Gupta program could help those compannies make a better-informed decision.
"One of the key issues facing SMBs right now is whether the Linux environment is reliable enough to serve their mission-critical needs. Cross-platform solution providers are helping to relieve some of the pressure facing IT decision-makers in this arena by eliminating the need to sacrifice reliability for cost," said Mika Krammer, research vice president at Gartner responsible for covering SMB IT management strategies.
One of the goals of the program is enable Gupta to better work with resellers and ISVs by providing them with tools they can use to better educate their smaller customers on platform development issues, a company spokesman said.
All new partners must first enter GUPTA's channel partner program through the company's Partner Development Program (PDP). This program not only supplies partners with the support they need to get started but also serves as the foundation for identifying new partners, company officials said.
Making the transition from the PDP to a certified partner is done through a qualification process consisting of a point system based largely on training and seminar attendance and marketing material development, as well as development projects, according to Gupta officials
More information about the program and related products can be seen at www.guptaworldwide.com.
