Macromedia Breeze 5 gains VOIP support
Macromedia on Monday introduced a new version of its Breeze Web conferencing software and hosted service, featuring support for VOIP.
Paul Krill wrote about the announcement for InfoWorld.com.
Breeze 5 includes a telephone gateway that lets companies connect to their existing telephony bridges. Also, the updated offering provides integrated audio conferencing through a partnership with Premiere Global Services. The hosted version of Breeze 5 is available now, and the licensed software will be released at the end of the month, according to Macromedia officials.
VOIP is catching on as key feature for enterprise Web collaboration. In March, at an event to formally launch its Office Communicator IM client, Microsoft unveiled updates to its Live Meeting Web conferencing service. The new release gained VOIP support and integrated audio controls that let participants be called directly to join a meeting.
"VoIP is exploding," Microsoft Chairman and Chief Software Architect Bill Gates said at the March event.
