Get RSS in any in-box

I thought I was really on to something with Attensa, which is revolutionary to me because it brings RSS to Outlook in a smart way, synchronizing with its Web interface and tagging from its browser toolbars.

But as I scanned my morning feeds in Outlook I thought how I'd like to get RSS in Google's GMail because I would like to have the filtering, tagging and search features for my RSS that Gmail is known for. And I don't want to have to fire up InfoWorld's VPN just to get RSS at home.

Then I came across Scobleizer's post linking to Squeet, which delivers RSS feeds you choose to any nominated e-mail account.

Yes, the new buzz meter -- for measuring how well a post is doing from a promotion system much like Digg it seems -- is cool too, but the killer feature here is Squeet's core service: RSS pushed live to the in-box. People can also choose to get updates sent daily, weekly etc, and in HTML or plain text.

Say bye-bye to newsletters as this spreads, I predict.

Is e-mail the killer app for RSS? Let us know what you are using and why.

I've been using bloglines.com as my rss reader for quite some time now, this inbox feature is something that sounds interesting and just what I'm looking for.

I'm going to try it out this weekend. For now I enjoy bloglines features of being able to watch 100's of blogs, only show me the new posts, and have access to it from any computer.

I use Sage on Firefox. Extremely simple. I'm interested in Squeet so I can save and search interesting articles and posts.

Maybe I'm missing something, in which case ignore my ignorant comments, but--isn't that what Attensa does? RSS pushed live to the in-box?
With Attensa, I open Outlook and get RSS feeds from all the places I selected; they go not only to my inbox, but to the particular sub-category I have defined within my inbox.
Not clear from your description what Squeet does that's different from that?

Response: Attensa is great and works wonderfully with Outlook. Squeet is not an app or toolbar. It forwards RSS feeds you choose to any e-mail in-box, which could be the one for your cell phone if you like. I point it to my Gmail. I then filter it with the tag RSS so that I can search headlines past very easily. --Mike Barton, Online Ed

P.S. Nick Gogerty of InClue sent along a link to his free Outlok RSS toolbar. Attensa is $30 a year. Check out Tech Watch via InClue.
