It's a magazine!

It's a magazine!
My copy of the new InfoWorld has arrived. It's a magazine! Cool! And I'm surrounded by old friends and new friends. In the old friends category, Rick Grehan makes the first of what I hope will be many appearances, reviewing WebLogic Workshop 8.1. Some of you will fondly remember Rick's Some Assembly Required column in BYTE. It predated the BYTE Web archive, but you can still read later incarnations of the column. As this week's BEA review shows, Rick hasn't lost his deft touch.

I'm also thrilled to see Tom Yager ensconced on the back page. I count on his analysis of things like Centrino and Opteron -- subjects I'm interested in, but don't have time to dig into.

Not appearing in this week's issue, but joining Rick on the masthead, are two new friends: Phil Windley and Paul Venezia. One of the great pleasures of my life is launching new writers. You'll be seeing more great stuff from these guys, I'm sure.
