Feedster reloaded

Congratulations to Scott Johnson and the rest of the Feedster gang for the launch of Feedster version 2. There are lots of new features to digest, but the ones that most interest me are those that enhance cross-blog conversation. At this URL, for example, I can find a tidy summary of the reaction to this item:

Tim Bray has thrown down the warning flag with respect to the Dashboard-related HTML extensions in the next version of Safari. "I'd be really happy if someone explained to me how this is different from what Netscape and Microsoft did to each other so irritatingly back in 1996," he writes. ...

Links to this post include:

Excellent! Here's a suggestion, for what it's worth. The URL that produces that summary looks like this:

http://about.feedster.com/?id=39&epoch=1089217495

It's opaque with respect to the item that it summarizes. The reason is that Feedster summaries are by day, not by item. This means, among other things, that I can't make a Feedster version of my Technorati trackback bookmarklet that I could use to generate this kind of view with a single click, from any blog post I happen to be reading.

An example of that kind of Technorati query looks like this:

http://www.technorati.com/cosmos/search.html?url=
  http://weblog.infoworld.com/udell/2004/07/07.html#a1035

This seems preferable to me. Notice, though, that the Technorati query yields the dreaded Ouch! No results found. It's not news that the blog world's exponential growth has been challenging to keep up with.

Of course there's a supercomputer out there that hasn't yet applied itself to this problem. I'm not the only one who wonders when, and how, it will.
