VMware's acquisition of B-hive Networks is complete

As quickly as the initial announcement came in May 2008, the VMware acquisition of B-hive Networks is already completed. Financial terms of the deal have still not been disclosed.

The acquisition extends VMware's reach by offering proactive performance management and service-level reporting for the application layer within the virtual machine environment. And the acquired technology will help datacenter designers when planning their virtualization strategies by providing them with virtual machine performance and utilization visibility.

Additionally, VMware will make good use of B-hive Network's current R&D facility and team located in Israel -- making it the company's core development center in that part of the world. And it also affords VMware the opportunity to select from the talented pool of developers that Israel has to offer.

For now, it looks like VMware will still offer B-hive Conductor as a separate product. However, the company appears to be working on integrating the product offering into its lifecycle management tools. Stay tuned!
